Basic Info
Name:Angua von Uberwald
Birthdate:12-09
Bio
Player Name: Stef
AIM Screen Name: WomenAtArms
Character Name: Angua von Uberwald
Series: Discworld
Age: 25

Physical Description: Angua is slightly taller than average at 5’8”, with soft, yellowy-brown eyes and long ash-blonde hair. Her pale skin and voluptuous curves make her a rather attractive young lady, although there’s often an element of fear in her eyes, as though she is preparing to flee. This is somewhat undermined by a smile that shows a disconcerting number of teeth, some of which are worryingly pointed.

She dresses in soft-soled boots—all the better to feel the streets with, or so her superior officer believes—tight fitting breeches and a moderately loose shirt and has been known on occasion to wear the pretty silk dresses she owns. However she’s much more likely to be seen in uniform—breeches, shirt and a slightly dented chest-plate that’s been modified for extra room in the torso department, although no helmet will cover her hair. The only addition to her uniform is a small necklace that slowly revolves through the phases of the moon, powered by clockwork.

Personality: Angua is intelligent and unafraid of voicing her opinions, although she often comes across as sarcastic and cynical. Despite this she does have a softer side that is tormented by a past that overwhelms her slightly, and she has a tendency to become overemotional. She’s also prone to fits of giggles at entirely inappropriate things.

Abilities/Strengths/Weaponry: A skilled bare-knuckle fighter, Angua doesn’t particularly need her standard-issue short sword and truncheon, however she carries them because they’re part of the uniform and will use them in a bind. As far as fighting is concerned she prefers to allow pointed smiles to act as a deterrent, although when she is engaged she doesn’t play by the rules. Hands, feet, nails, teeth—you name it, if it gives her an advantage she’ll use it.

Weaknesses: Angua is a very temperamental woman, ruled by emotions that have an uncanny connection to the phases of the moon. While she’ll fight to the death for what she believes in it doesn’t mean she won’t break down and cry when the going gets too tough, or that she’s right all of the time as she thinks she is.

She also has a problem with long-term relationships. She can be a very secretive person when she wants to be, and hates to lose an argument. This is something friends and lovers alike find awkward to deal with, and coupled with her more violent tendencies at the full moon mean many people are scared of her. Even so, when the right man comes along she finds it hard to disobey him.

Angua also suffers from a hereditary allergy to silver. Any contact between the metal and her skin results in painful blisters.

History: Born Delphine Angua von Uberwald to Baron Guye von Uberwald and Lady Serafine Soxe-Bloonberg, Angua should have grown into a lady of high-class. However it wasn’t to be, as following an accident that led to the death of her sister Elsa, Angua left her home in the Dardanelles. Convinced that her violent older brother Wolfgang was responsible and feeling little connection to the scheming, conniving parents that had brought her into the world she made her escape.

Drifting from place to place at first with no money or friends Angua found it hard to build relationships. Whilst she met many men in the time she had trouble holding on to any of them, and spent much of her time alone. Eventually growing bored of drifting between towns and alienating herself from her friends she decided to settle down—for a little longer than usual, at least—and join the ranks of the right side of the law, as opposed to being above it as her parents often felt they were. After the years of travel she found it easy to believe in the familiar adage “keep your friends close and your enemies closer,” and realised that the best way to find justice for her sister was to keep an eye on her family.

She acquired a job as a guardsman on Elysium. Whilst the guard were often—and still are—viewed with scorn, Angua enjoys policing. The job is endless but she likes that, feeling rather more anchored to her future now that one is actually clear, and in a position now to do something right. Whilst justice is viewed as easily affordable to the rich, she has no qualms arresting them if they break the law, nor will she carry out their dirty work. Having seen too many lies and too much use of smoke and mirrors in her short life she is determined to make a positive difference, however small a dent she makes.
